Want something to snack on.. but don't want preservatives? This is a fun recipe that can be modified by adding different nuts and dried fruit. All the ingredients are healthy and natural, but be sure you add up the calories as these amazing little love nuggets could add up if you eat too many... and trust me, I have been guilty of that!
Getufit Energy Bites
6 cups raw old fashioned oatmeal
3 cups peanut butter (or any nut butter such as almond or cashew)
1 cup agave or honey
1 cup protein powder (any flavor but I prefer vanilla)
1 cup whole or ground flax seeds
1/2 cup water
Optional add-ons:
1 cup total of each (or a cup combination of each)
Chocolate chips
Raisins
Sunflower seeds
Chopped nuts
Dried fruit
*The add-ons will add substantial calories and sugar to the recipe so be sure you figure this into the macros.
Instructions
Mix ingredients
With wet hands to form golf ball (or smaller) sized balls.
This should make several dozen peanut butter bites.
Recipe Notes
These can be frozen and thawed out quickly as needed. I have never had success in making these into a bar form as there is not a binding agent, so the ball form is best. Serving size is typically two. If you are on a GETUFIT NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM this recipe can be used as a snack once a day with a serving size of two energy balls.

This is me in Punta Cana at the breakfast buffet. My kids absolutely LOVE this recipe so I made a batch for the long travel day back home. I used Muesli, raisins, honey, almond butter (which was super runny but it worked), flax seeds, sunflower seeds, craisins, and dried coconut flakes. I am sure each golf ball sized bite is 80-90 calories but I would rather have them eat this than airport junk food!
The best part for me was seeing them at ages 20, 19, 17, and 9 light up with excitement when I made this for them!
